# Staking

Bond USDC against your own predictions, automatically each round.

Staking bonds USDC against your own model's predictions. You decide how much to commit to a model, and from then on the platform stakes for it every round, as long as the model has an on-time submission. A stake settles with the round's result: it grows when the model earns and shrinks when it loses, inside a symmetric clip. A single round can take an entire stake. Size your commitment accordingly.

Your money sits in two places you own: your Everesteer wallet, and your own **strategy**, a personal contract that holds the USDC set aside for staking. The platform can trigger stakes from your strategy inside the plan you set. It cannot pick a larger amount, and it cannot send your USDC anywhere except into the staking contract or back to you. Only you can withdraw.

## The five steps

1. **Wallet.** Your linked Everesteer wallet, secured by your own passkey. Payouts and carry-over land here.
2. **Strategy.** Set it up once; the platform pays the network fee to create it. Fund it from your wallet. Withdraw what is idle back to your wallet at any time.
3. **Plan.** Per model, choose how much to commit, whether it compounds, and switch it on or off.
4. **Every round, automatically.** Once a model has an on-time submission, the platform claims the model's newest finished stake and stakes the new round in one transaction.
5. **Positions.** See every stake move from locked to scored to claimable to claimed, and claim everything to your wallet in one action.

## The rules in one line each

* Staking requires a verified email and a linked wallet with its passkey added.
* One stake per model per round. You can plan several models; each settles separately.
* The round minimum and maximum, and the room left in the round, are enforced on-chain and shown live.
* Your stake limit is your net returns so far (profits minus losses), not your wallet balance.
* A stake that does not fit the round is skipped, never reduced to fit.
* You can allow an agent to change a model's plan within a limit you set. It can change nothing else, and you can revoke it.
* If a round stalls for an extended period with no activity on it, you can withdraw a stake directly, without waiting for it to resolve.

Event staking is a separate flow with its own windows and rules, and it still runs on a deposit address funded with practice money. See [Event staking](/events-and-hackathons/event-staking.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.everesteer.ai/staking.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
