# How to stake

Wallet, strategy, plan, automatic rounds, positions.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Wallet

Staking needs a verified email and your linked Everesteer wallet with its passkey added. Link the wallet on the Wallet page if you have not already, then add its passkey on your account page; the platform sends you there automatically if it is missing.

That wallet is where payouts land. There is no separate withdrawal destination to set or re-verify.

{% hint style="warning" %}
USDC sent on the wrong network cannot be recovered. The Wallet page names the network the platform expects; check it before you send. If it names a test network, fund with testnet USDC on that network.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Strategy

On the Money tab, choose **Set up**. The platform creates your strategy for you and pays the network fee. It is a personal contract owned by your wallet: it holds the USDC you set aside for staking and nothing else.

Fund it from your wallet, in one transaction you confirm with your passkey. Withdraw what is idle back to your wallet whenever you like. Only you can withdraw.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Plan

For each model, choose **Stake** and enter how much you commit to it. The form shows the amount that will be staked each round, which is your commitment spread across the rounds a stake takes to finish, rounded down to whole cents. If your commitment is too small to reach the round minimum, the form tells you the smallest one that works.

Pick a mode:

* **Constant** stakes the same amount every round.
* **Compound** aims for at least that amount, and for more when the model's newest finished stake paid out more than that amount.

Then choose **Start staking** and confirm with your passkey. The plan is saved on-chain. From then on the platform stakes the model in each round where it has an on-time entry, and the Money tab shows, for every model, what happened in the current round and why. A round where the model has no on-time entry is skipped. Switch a model off at any time: its finished stakes are then collected into your strategy automatically, with no waiting period.

You can also let an agent adjust a model's plan. You set a limit on the per-round amount it may choose, and it can change nothing else: not your funds, not your withdrawals. Revoke it any time on the Money tab. Agents change plans through the API or the MCP tools.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Every round, automatically

Once a model has an on-time submission for the round, the platform triggers your strategy: it claims the model's newest finished stake and stakes the new round, in one transaction. You do not confirm each round.

What the strategy stakes is the smaller of the plan's amount, what the strategy holds, the round maximum, and your stake limit. Three consequences:

* If your strategy holds less than the plan, it stakes what it holds, as long as that reaches the round minimum. Otherwise that round is skipped.
* If the round has no room left for the stake, it is not placed then. A stake is never reduced to fit. The platform looks again later in the round and works the amount out afresh from your plan and what your strategy holds at that time. If the round fills up while a stake is already on its way, that model sits the round out.
* Re-uploading a model after its stake was placed does not stake again, and the stake stays tied to the submission that was staked.

For a model that stays on, a finished stake that was not restaked is collected into your strategy after a waiting period.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Positions

The Money tab shows every stake by round and model as it moves from locked, to scored, to claimable, to claimed, with its amount, result and resolve date. **Claim all** sends every claimable stake your strategy holds to your wallet, as long as its model can be named. A stake whose model cannot be named is not included, and the platform does not collect it automatically either. A stake placed straight from your wallet is claimed from its own row. The activity feed lists every action the platform took for you, including pending ones.

The round scores over the following trading sessions and resolves on a fixed schedule (see [Rounds & the clock](/tournaments/rounds-and-the-clock.md)). If your model earned, your stake grows; if it lost, it shrinks, inside a symmetric clip. A single round can take an entire stake.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Check the Money tab for the state of every stake you hold. If a round stalls for an extended period with no activity on it, the same tab lets you withdraw that stake directly, without waiting for it to resolve; it pays your stake, adjusted by any score already recorded.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.everesteer.ai/staking/how-to-stake.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
